The Batgirl is the Jubilee-bracelet version of Rolex's blue-and-black GMT-Master II, and the bracelet is the entire distinction. Fit the same 126710BLNR to an Oyster bracelet and collectors call it the Batman; fit it to the five-link Jubilee and it becomes the Batgirl. Under the nickname sits a serious traveller's watch — a 24-hour bezel and independent GMT hand that read a second time zone at a glance — wrapped in the two-tone ceramic bezel that made this reference famous.
When Rolex first managed to fuse blue and black into a single Cerachrom bezel in 2013, it was pulling off something the industry had considered close to impossible — bonding two ceramic colours into one component with no visible join. The nicknames, though, came entirely from collectors: Rolex has never once used the words Batman or Batgirl, and almost certainly never will.
